Is there a place where i can see descriptions of currently implemented medals and what they do?

Most are descriptive enough, but what's "Woudned in Action"?

I think Wounded in Action is if you submit at least five defeats.

It doesn't have descriptions (and I have the same query about how one gets a "Wounded in Action" medal), but you can see a list of all the currently implemented medals here: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=legend

To get your medals to show up your post you need to go to the edit your character section on the metaverse page and select a default character.

Gracias. I had no idea that button was there. And, even looking for it, it was so dark against the dark background that I almost didn't see it. Thanks.

You can view a medal description by going to the Metaverse and selecting Galactic Databank. Then look for 'Legend'.

After comparing the various medals and character profiles I've seen, I *think* the ranks are simply based on the total number of games you've submitted.
