Playing on the largest size map...

I ahve been working on ways to speed up my game play by being more effieicent. it is very very hard on the largest size map because I ahve SOOOO many planets, and most of them are building ships.

The ships I am generally concered about getting launced are the constructors, transports, and my sensor ships. I found a great way to do this so you do not have to thumb through every planet.

When the turn starts, it shows what has happend, if any important ships are built click on goto. Once in that screen select the ship and click launch, then done rinse and repeat until your finished. Now once you actually start moving ships, if you click the space bar, it cycles through ships that are not on auto pilot, and that are not on a planet. You can eaisly cycle through these ships using the space bar.

have you guys found any helpful tricks to make the lager maps playable?

Thanks!

Play the "Dread Lords on Parade" scenario on a gigantic map. Fun fun fun.

A life saver would be to not bother using the 'goto' command to launch your ships. A tip I learned is that the ship icon on the right hand side of your screen that comes up when a ship is completed will auto-launch and take you to that ship when you right click on it.

Rally Points.
When I first heard about them, I thought they would be more complicated than they would be worth... but, they are amazingly simple, and a great timesaver once you get the hang of it.

And yeah, if you right-click on the blue "ship built" notification, it will auto-launch that ship and center your view on it.

Question??? If I have a planetary rally point set and I right click to launch, will the ship be automatically sent to the rally point? With out being certain it seems to be a hit or miss situation with planetary rally points.

As an aside I am still having some problems with planetary rally points. There shoulkd be a screen to easily disband a rally point. If you have a starbase on a rally point you have to move a ship other than a constructor to the rally point in order to disband it. You can't pull up the rally point window if a sb is built there.

Noticed the same thing with the sb on the ralley point. Next time I'll build next to the rally point.

Agree on rally points. Combined with the governors for switching production and/or rally points around they can help you greatly streamline on any sized map.
