Its works, its doesnt....

Hi,

I bought multiplicity and I'm using the latest version 1.02.

I have a desk top pc with two screens and a laptop connected to a screen. The desktop machine is dual boot XP pro and server 2003. The laptop is XP pro.

It took me a while but I eventually got it to work between the desktop (XP Pro) and the laptop, after a lot of reinstalls...

I then installed it on server 2003. It didnt work. I reinstalled a few times then reinstalled the laptop. Eventually I got it working but after rebooting the desktop its stopped working again.

I've tried everything at this stage. Its like the software working is hit and miss and pure luck. Nothing has changed on either machine and I can telnet on the laptop to the laptop but not from the desktop. I know the laptop has no firewall issues because it was working when I had XP loaded, and I know that it should work because it did... until I rebooted!

the desktop machine is the master... and I cannot telnet to the laptop.

Help!

When it doesn't work, can you telnet between the machines on the MP port?
How are they connected? LAN, firewire, wireless?

I cant telnet between the machines. They are connected on a lan with fixed ips.

What really annoys me is the fact that it worked and now it wont again. Weird.

Thanks for your reply.

I have exactly the same config at home and it all works flawlessly.

Carl,

did you have to do 'anything' to 2003 to make it work?

do you have it set up as a DC?

Thanks...

No, the server runs as PDC with themes service and multimedia switched on. Multiplicity works as designed. 2003 SP1.

If you cannot telnet between the machines then it suggests either a firewall is blocking access or the service is not running.

The secondary should have a process called Multisrv32 / 64 (may appear as a 8.3 file name with ~ in the name instead)

Can you ping from both machines?
