Approval rating really low

Approval rating really low

How to improve it ?

Hi!

I am having a hard time improving the approval rating on a planet. When I hover on the information, I have planet bonuses, people do not like my taxes, but the more important part is I get a '-70% population'. What does it mean exactly ? What should I do/build ?

As others have said, the key to morale is to control your population. Morale buldings/resources/trade goods produce less of a morale gain when you have unhappiness due to population.

For example, if you have +100% morale buildings on a planet, but "-70% from population" in the approval tooltip, you'll only get "+30% from buildings". A similar reduction happens for the civ-wide morale bonuses. I think we figured out the correct formulas in this thread Link, if you want them.

As far as I know, nobody has yet explained why "Approval" is always a different number from the "Morale" shown in the tooltip. The former seems to be what matters for elections and such.

Agreed, I've been playing since the beta first went public, and in my experience, at no time was more than one farm on a planet of less than PQ26 a good idea. I like planetary populations in the 10-15B, no higher, but I also don't like to get much lower except on small planets, just so that they can have some chance at fighting off an invasion.

BTW, here https://www.galciv.wikicities.com/wiki/Gameplay_Questions there is a nice article on how morale is calculated.
