"Cheat Codes Detected" and "Not in an Empire" - Bugs?

I have two problems, and I hope this is the right place to ask about them since apparently the stickied "Metaverse Help" wasn't.

1) I have a character in an Empire, as you can see here: Link
However, in-game I continue to get this "not in an Empire" message: Link
Is there something I'm missing?

2) One of the games I submitted says "cheat codes detected" (#4 on this list), but to the best of my knowledge I didn't use any; I don't even load with the "cheat" parameter. So unless the codes are something easy to accidentally tap or Research Time > Average is a cheat, I don't know what's going on here. I'm apparently not the only person who had this problem, either.

Help? Or is this the wrong place to ask about these questions, and if so, could someone be more explicit than "somewhere else"?

Thanks,
Greg Buchold

Yah, I just got that "detected cheat codes" in a game I finished too. Didn't cheat anyway.

The 'cheat detector' looks for things that are out of expected range, IE, if you have waaaay too much money, it assumes you cheated or modded the meta game data. Obviously, it still needs fine-tuned .

I assume that the cheat flag is just one bit in the database though, so all it should take is a recalibration of the scanner and all flagged games should get unflagged. If that's the case, no need to resubmit or worry, just wait until they get it fixed up.

The developers are looking into the Cheat Code issue.  At this time I haven't heard if they have found the problem yet.

If anyone has a saved game that the Metaverse flagged as having cheated, please send it to [email protected] along with a short description of the problem (i.e., something like "The attached game was flagged as having cheated but I didn't cheat.").  Thanks.

I just got a game flagged as having cheated, and I didn't use any cheat, I am going to send the sav game to you tonight as soon as I get home.

Sounds good.. unfortunately, don't have any save games of the ones that were already flagged... but next time I get one flagged I'll exit the game and send up the last autosave.

From talking to CariElf, she says she found a possible reason for the cheats detected. Apparently, if you go back and forth in the ability screen, the ability bonuses could be applied twice, giving you too many ability points, so the game will be flagged as a cheated game.

She said she was going to go through the database and fix them so your games will become unflagged, but she hasn't gotten around to it yet.

But for now, whenever you start a new game, check your stats screen first and make sure your stats don't seem abnormally high.

This may be related to the first problem I'm having, or it might not. I'm not sure. But for some reason, I can't edit my character or Empire from the Metaverse part of this website; whenever I try, the screen full of options comes up, but they're all nulls. The dropdown menus are empty, the Save Changes button does nothing, and if I click any of the other buttons I get an error about a string being changed to an integer. If I need to scrap my account and make a new one, that's fine, but I'm not sure how to do that at this point. Any bright ideas?

And I want to make clear, by the way, that aside from the issues I've been reporting (which have all been minor) I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. So I don't want to sound whiny or something. I just want to see if there's some way these things can get fixed.

edit for clarity:

The error reads

"Exception: Conversion from string "undefined" to type 'Integer' is not valid.s

Please copy this message (Control + C) and notify the site administrators."

Thanks.

Ehm...this question is related. Where exactly are the save games stored on the hard drive? I can't seem to locate them, and without the save it's kind of ridiculous for me to be sending in an e-mail about not cheating when they can't tell if I have or not.

To find your saved games go to my documents. In there you should see a folder called my games. In that folder should be a folder called galciv2. Your saved games are in there.

Hi for me its, C:/ Documents and settings / My Documents / My Games / Galciv 2 /

you can also delete the "CurrentCustomRaceX.raceconfig" there if you want the default race settings (skills/PP/apearance).

I had the same problem with cheat codes detected, i send a mail about it but maybe i was my fault:

mail quote:

"I played a medium/challenging map.
while nearing the end i saved (Korx.sav) and won by diplomacy.
I refused to validate my score to the metaverse because i wanted to see what would happen with a technological victory (i said no).
So i loaded my save game (korx.sav) and won the technological way, then i refused again, loaded the one before the diplomatical win and this time i validated my score.

Maybe it considered it "cheating" but i didn't use any codes and by no mean wanted to improve my score, i really dont care about the score, but i'm no cheater (hell forbid i hate that, i mean what's the point ^^)."

Well see .

This will be fixed in the next update.  This is strictly an in-game display bug; your Metaverse games will still be credited to your empire.  If you want to see your empire data in the game before the next update, you can give your empire a website URL (any URL will do--in fact, I think any text at all will do) and your empire data should appear next time you view your data on the Metaverse screen in-game.

That worked!!! I downloaded the Fansite kit and made a website for my empire and entered the info and it worked, the info started showing up in the game..... I know any info would have worked but I wanted to make it look good....

I had the "anomalous score" in my first two games as well. I didn't use the cheat parameter or mess with the game in any way. I played as a Korx in both of them, and I know they have "-2" points in the ability choosing screen. Could that have something to do with it? I say this because my third game was with the Yor, and it was not flagged as anomalous.

I e-mailed them, and I was told that yes, the -2 points in ability are the cause of the problem. The Arceans apparently have the same problem.
