Question about Metaverse

Under high scores on the metaverse you can open the galactic map which shows which empire is on top and all that, but my question is what’s up with the little radar thingy?

If you click on the galactic map a pair of circles appears with a radarish sweeper. My question is what the heck is that thing, and does it have a purpose besides driving DT crazy.

That's the homing device.  If you leave it running long enough, the Stardock goon squad will come knocking at your door.  Or maybe nothing happens?  Hmm, I've forgotten now.
