Should not uninstall and reinstall via Stardock Central cure Buggy Plug-in Error Message? Hello?

Last few days error messages that DektopX Builder needs to close due to Buggy Plug-in. I have uninstalled via SDC and reinstalled...several times; no fix as of yet. I have even uninstalled SDC and reinstalled. We have Object Desktop Upgrade for the works.

I'd delete any objects in my Desktop X cache between installs.

Thanks Sir Zubaz! The cache I did not previously delete; everything else however.

Followed to the "T" your link 101. Looked like all was going well...until downloaded a new widget and opened it! This caused the need for DesktopX Builder to close. And, on loading theme Jigsaw of course came the message to either reload or go with a new; the ol' buggy plug-in possibility in being the cause.

Afternoon Dogs O Fire.

Y'all still hitting stumbling blocks every once in a while I see.  I got nothing on this at the moment - not at home and can't look - had to reformat a little while back - takes a while to download everything again on dialup - besides Jigsaw - got any other 'buggy' ones?

for the widgets, instead of just running - maybe import then export back out?

I'll check back later tonight after I run mine and see if you have any solutions.

Jigsaw worked for me also. Any specific widgets with errors?
I'm running DTX[beta] ver 3.19[b].002

Sorry folks for not attending to this matter; been fighting with the Veterans Administration and they (those people) can tire your mind, and physically. I've needed to rest.

Sure enough Sir Bichur every so often something will pop-up. Not sure whether it is due to downloading updates BETA from SDC, or just what. I did follow Sir Zubaz's instructions and in fact have them now on disk. It appeared that all was going well, but then it happened again. I don't think the problem lays with the Jigsaw theme. Presently Sir Zubaz I am only using the todo by Tiggz; just started venturing into these widgets. Testing now, first step is binging DesktopX on to load Jigsaw. However, because I use the taskbar and like the two icons on the desktop, I must go with "Create" because using "Load Desktop" will cause the taskbar and icons not to show. I click-on "Create" and Jigsaw loads fine and the "DesktopX Builder - Settings" window appears. I un-check Hide desktop icons and Hide Windows taskbar and click "Apply"/"OK".
The little message window appears that DesktopX must restart in order for it to change to DesktopX Builder. So far so good. Now, I load IconX and the icons enlarge and of course Jigsaw unloads and reloads. So far so good. Now for the widget. I right-click on the taskbar icon "DesktopX Builder" and the "DesktopX Builder - Settings" window appears. I click-on "Import a widget" and select T101 todolist and load it. The widget loads. Now, I click "Apply"/""OK" on the DesktopX Builder - Settings". Now, I click "Done" on the "DesktopX 3.1" Welcome. Um, so you want to work this time??? Well, it seems this test was successful! This wasn't a major problem, it was a time to time want to cause problems. I think Sir Birchur we had discussed why Stardock decided to remove IconX from DesktopX several times. It would be nice if everything just came on. I will monitor this thread, and will surely monitor this time to time situation. Sorry to hear Sir Birchur of your computer situation. I did as you suggested on the widget; not run, but import. Maybe, just maybe this was the problem. When you say--then export it out, do you mean just close it?

no.  you know how when you create a new object - then you can export it as an dx object or widget (or gadget if you have pro)?  I had trouble with a widget a long while back...moved it to my desktop...then imported it, then right clicked on it and exported it to a widget again.  Can't remember if the right click/export is still there with the new DTX {I really need to play with it more} but that's what I meant.

I have never created an object, or otherwise...yet. As far as the right-click, the widget, it shows About, Properties, and Close. My test above went well, but I know it will poop-out again, but perhaps not.

right clicking on a widget to export - builder mode
Reply #11 Top
No Sir, there is no export option on right-click on Builder Mode; at least not our's. My icon in the system tray says DesktopX Builder.

I know export is somewhere - i did it last month.  just can't remember how (and I'm back at work where I'm not allowed 'toys').

maybe it's in configure builder?  I know it's somewhere.  I took a .png and made an .ico in icondeveloper - went into dtx builder and right clicked on builder in systray -> new object -- I made the object a shortcut to desktop, used the .ico for appearance & exported as an object and it showed up in the objects folder.  Just can't remember how I did the last part .

maybe that's one reason one of my bosses told me: "Having you here is like having 6 people call in sick".

HeHeHeHe You need a Rest Room Computer! Well, the DexktopX needed to close as I knew it would. But, this time it was in loading a Rainlendar object; don't figure.

well crap.... ...now DTX builder configure - import widget is being unresponsive! Will have to try later.

Interesting...for the last week or so I have also been having issues with things like my dialup connection taking 5-10 minutes to appear after I click it, desktop loading more slowly everday, etc., on top of the issue(s) with trying to import/export a widget.

I have also been running Secure Process. My wife got on, and when she clicked the dialup connection it took 6 minutes & the computer crashed as soon as she clicked connect. Several errors after it restarted, with an error message from Secure Process that blinked out too quick to read.

Uninstalled Secure Process and everything seems to be working as it should...desktop loaded quick, DTX came right up, imported a widget i made earlier, changed it around and exported it.

No personal knowledge of Secure Process. As suggested/recommended, check out the Diskeeper 10. Absent this, I suggest/recommend you check out CyberScrub 4.0; have been using this program for years and it keeps things clean. Diskeeper 10 does a fantastic job in addition; "Set-it and Forget-it" feature. Frequently, and I mean frequently, we do a simple Run>chkdsk. This in, and of itself, will show you corrections; Stages 1-3. If you are using Symantec/Norton, you would do yourself a favor and get rid of it...all of it; system resource hog!!! I have found the AVG antivirus software/program exceptional; free version. I have found the basic free version of ZoneAlarm to be exceptional. At this end, still having the time-to-time DesktopX problem...not too big of a headach...more of a side-pain. I think it is the "BETA", and hopefully the next update will put all in order. P.S. Consider the software/program "ProcessTamer".

Remember, Run>chkdsk!

It's part of Think Desk

Norton screwed me up uninstalling it's older version to upgrade to a newer version that would never fully install. 5 days at their website following instructions and using 5-10 of their unistall tools = Trendmicro
check out CyberScrub 4.0;

I shall look into this and the Diskkeeper. Currently I only use CCleaner and Ace Utilities (which also uses DOD)

have your tried = loading a desktop that works, switch to builder mode, right click on systray icon - import - click on the widgets button - pick a widget, then right click on the widget and choose export - yet?

Yes I have done so. I might attempt uninstalling, cleaning DX out; including registry keys, and then reinstalling again.

when I get to the point of clicking 'export' it gives me the option of exporting as object, widget, gadget (which doesn't work for me cuz I only have the regular enhanced) and then want's to know if I want to delete the original I imported (i guess so's to replace with the one I exported)

Sir Bichur, well, since the 27th all has been working like a charm. Apparently, it fixed itself....

Sorry Sir Bichur, the household is an extremely busy firehouse! Everything is still going well like a swiss watch. We all hope you're doing well at work...heheheh
