no. The are numerous threads already dedicated to the subject (two of them created by me). Search a little.

Yeah sorry, I'm not used to these forums. I just found the other posts. Feel free to delete this.

Search a little.

This forum doesn't have a search function.

I must have missed something. I was actually going to ask about this before finding this thread. Does anyone know what the rationale was for not including the Terror Star?

Think they said in the chat it was a balancing thing; but I also detected a slight feeling they may do it in the future.

I think the rationale was something like it was not practical to spend enough time to work out game balance issues and AI treatment.

Huh...thats sad
i posted something equal just a few minutes before because im new to the Forum and didnt found a search function...sorry bout that.

Well, if its not in the game yet we can still make suggestions how to model terror stars

I would like to see them really as battle stations with fleets, with the ability to attack ships, to destroy single planets and maybe even with a small shipyard for reapair. Would be nice to have slots for weapons and defence like the ships have them so you can build them exactly like you want to.

Hmm...i hope they will bring them back with a patch.

what?
no party-palace terror stars anymore???!!!
(wasnt that the name?)
that was kinda awesome. you could theoretically (it was extremely expansive) build a floating monstrous terror-doom star that also had an enormous moral improving party palace module onboard.
if i recall correctly!
plain awesome!

On a related note:
I was hoping this game might build on the terror star concept and expand it into non-military stuff, I would have loved to be able to build ring worlds! (at a huge huge cost) that had economic and cultural capacity, but couldn't build anything other than ships.

Yeah, but you have to wait for the Googlebot to index the posts.

It was a time issue, with the Terror Star. First they'd have to figure out how it should work (It destroys a star system and all its planets, which would need a different mechanic on this map than on GalCiv1.), then they would have to get the AI to use it effectively, recognize the threat that another race's Terror Stars represent, and all that. Not something they thought they could do and still get the game out when they said they would.
