Ship Battle mini game

I think there should be a way to do ship battles as if you were playing a fighter simulation (at war) so that you can for example get in one of your ships and fight several squadrons of fighters or command a fleet of ships, as a mini game (as it will prolly be unbalanced against ai).

I dont see anything like that ever making it into this game. Not to totally smash your ideas, it just doesnt fit at all. Thats going a lot farther than the guy who was talking about tactical control of ship battles, and so excpect to either get a lot of "No freaking way"s or few responses at all, simply because of how out of place that would be in a 4X game.

Aside from requiring a completely new engine, controls..... hell, effectively a totally new game just to implement this... I'd say that this has absolutely no part to play in this game. Get X2 / X3 / Freelancer for something like that.
