Cheney accidentally shoots fellow hunter

Apparently, VP Cheney was Quail hunting with a buddy (Harry Whittington, a 78 year old millionaire lawyer from Austin) and accidentally shot him by "peppering" him with shot from a 28 guage.  Even though they were both wearing bright orange, the VP didn't "see" him.  Luckily, there was an ambulance on hand (since the VP was around) and was able to take Whittington to the hospital where he is "fine and in good spirits".

there lurks pointed and relevant imagery.

I think it was Jay Leno who said that when the public learned he shot a lawyer, his poularity increased to 92%!

I think I must be very tired.

Due to the current forum replies line-up in the sidebar I just read this:

Does God Exist?

And for a moment there, I thought I was ready.

New news has come out as to why Cheney shot him. Cheney thought he'd be greeted as a liberator!

Your belief that the US are murdering Iraqis comes from your inability to educate yourself, doesn't it?

At least Dick has the balls to shoot people inperson rather than by proxy now.

With the absolutely STUPID questions coming from the White House Press Corps, I'd say that while VP Cheney caused a stupid accident, the "press corps" is showing their stupidity on purpose.

CNN: "Authorities have cleared Cheney of wrongdoing in the accidental shooting of Whittington, but questions about Saturday's incident remain."

Pretty much says it all, doesn't it...

Have you guy seen how the White House press corp spent 45 minute crying to the Press Secratary that a local Texas news reporter broke the story.

What a bunch of cry babies. Now they are wanting an investigation into why they didn't get the story first.

Chaney did not have a license. I wonder if he will be cited for the violation under state law. Meanwhile that poor lawyer is having heart trouble. Hey, wait a minute, those guys don’t have hearts. Maybe Chaney hit his wallet.

Is there any wonder that one so incompetent with a weapon was granted five draft exemptions?

Tell you the same thing I told col. Get a clue.

Accidents like this happen all the time. I have personally seen it happen with a 16 year ex-marine behind the trigger. When you're hunting birds and they flush you need to swing quickly to get on target. Which is why you're supposed to keep in line.

The guy wandered into tall grass, then circled back around behind them without announcing his presence. While bird hunting, needless to say with people swinging guns in the direction they think people *aren't*...

When you do something this stupid, you get what you deserve!

The incompetent one here is the lawyer, "not" the VP. The lawyer was somewhere he was NOT supposed to be in the first place and then to add stupidity to ignorance, "never" even bothered to tell anyone he was there? He deserves to be shot.

No, he didn't have a $7 permit stamp ON his license. An easy thing to forget.
