Cheney Authorized Libby to Leak Classified Information

Scotter Libby testified that VP Cheney authorized him to provide classified information to the press. This is the same VP that this week complained about the release of the classified NSA surveillance operation. If Cheney did approve his former assistant to release classified information it will be like the Agnew revelation that he was taking kick backs while VP. If this is true, Congress needs to begin impeachment proceedings against the Vice President!

If this is true, Congress needs to begin impeachment proceedings against the Vice President!

I doubt the republican dominated congress will take any action at all. Everything is political to republicans and they almost never go after their own. What’s more likely is Cheney will be indicted as part of the Valerie Plame investigation for disclosing classified information in an effort to discredit Joe Wilson. If the democrats regain control of the house this November, Cheney (and Bush) will be impeached. If the democrats fail to win enough seats, we may have our vice president working out of a jail cell.

OMG, and Truman told people about our super-secret nuclear weapons project after we dropped it on Hiroshima!! Do you realize how facetious this is?

Wilson was lying to the press as an 'unnamed source' about classified information, relying on the fact that the truth was classified. His reports and the stuff he told the newspaper showed completely different conclusions. There's no doubting Wilson lied, the Congressional commission found that out. Releasing details to combat treasonous misinformation programs by the then soon-to-be Kerry campaign advisor is understandable.

This hubbub is a farce, and Republicans are loving it as much as Dems. Far, far better to throw empty threats at a lame duck administration than focus on the 2006 election, and the next Presidential election. I hope there is a nasty trial that lasts for three years and that dominates the press.

Why? Because Dems, as usual, will lurch over the top, act like jerks, and basically bore the American people to death, while they flail around ignoring elections that are going to bite them on the ass. Cheney is retiring in a couple of years, either way.

So keep right on making an uproar over nothing. You're the best friend Congressional Republicans have, Col.

You're always VERY fast on the scene to explain away this kind of stuff, BakerStreet. If it really was 'an uproar over nothing', and Col Gene was really 'the best friend Congressional Republicans have', wouldn't you be better advised to say nothing?

Nah, I've learned that it won't matter. He'll keep saying it, Dems will eat it up, and no one will notice there are elections this year until the polls close. In addition, I get to laugh at them.
