One more thought on Obama vs. Clinton

Is this prolonged race part of a grander plan?

So I've done a little thinking over the last few days (hey! every now and then it happens ;) ) and I started thinking that perhaps the Democratic primary season that never ends may be part of a grander plan, perhaps even rising to the conspiracy level.  Now, please don't assume I'm a tin-foil hat wearing X-Files type individual that always sees conspiracies in everything going on around him.  I'm far from it, and I really don't think my thoughts (that I'm about to share) on the seemingly un-ending Democratic nomination process reflect any real conspiracy, but...  I have to suggest that in many ways things are playing out for the Democratic party about as well as they could ever hope for.[more]

Even as Obama and Hillary Clinton continue to fight it out in the primaries their pre-ordained opponent on the other side, one John McCain (who is, despite recent appearances and comments that he has made to try to sound more like Bush), has barely been able to buy a second of media coverage.  Instead, the media has continued to cover the Democratic fight for the nomination while almost completely ignoring the Republican nominee select.

Is it possible that Hillary Clinton hasn't exited the Democratic race despite what has been obvious for some time now (that she can't win the nomination) because the DNC has been keeping the race going to keep their opponent from gaining any momentum?  The longer the race runs the closer we get to November and the less face time McCain gets while his potential opponent(s) keep their faces in the news.

I really don't think it has been planned out this way, but in a lot of ways the cynic in me thinks the Democratic party couldn't have asked for a better script to set themselves up for the run towards November.  They've got an economy that seems to be in the toilet, a housing market that has been Greenspanned/Bernanked (think Borked) up pretty badly, and fuel prices (gasoline and diesel) that are rising quicker than most people can deal with along with food prices that are rising thanks to increased transportation costs and the stupidity that is the search for Ethanol to be used as an alternative to petroleum based products.  They also have free media coverage during what would otherwise be a fairly dead part of the campaign season because their nominee hasn't been decided.

If the Democratic party blows this next election it really could be the end of the world as they know it.

It may be a plan, but I doubt a conspiracy. It is simple dynamics. As long as Hillary and Obama stay in and fight, they are news. mcCain is not.

And as long as they are making news, they are getting positive ratings (name recognition). The proof will come AFTER the conventions as there will be only 2. The playing field will level out then, and the chaff will be gone.

And the blood being spilled now, will be resurrected in the fall. Lots of blue blood, not much Red being spilled right now.

That's the thing that scares me as I even consider being a McCain supporter and as a traditional Red state kind of guy.  The blood hasn't even begun to be spilled from the Red side and when it does I expect the cuts to come fast and furious and be incredibly deep and in critical areas.  The Blue side is good at it and they get lots of help from the MSM (Main Stream Media).  The Red side isn't too bad at it, but traditional get less help from the MSM.

It may wind up being good news (the delay in the impending fight between the two sides) as it could mean less 'noise' on the TV and radio, or at least a much shorter 'noisey' season which could mean I'll stay in a happier mode throughout more of the summer months ;)

If McSame is allowed to continue the catastrophic promise of a Bush third term it will likely be the end of the world PERIOD.

I have little doubt that a Republican election in 2008 will likely signal the end of the United States and very likely the end of civilization within four years.
