Considering recipes can't be copyrighted, I don't see it as much of a big deal. (Yes, individual recipes are specifically excluded under copyright law.)
They should keep better track of what's on their website and what claims are made about it, though. If they present something as someone's favorite recipes, they should be just that. It shouldn't matter if the recipes happen to have originated elsewhere, as long as they're
really the person's favorite recipes (which these apparently weren't).
McCain's a big enough nit, anyway. Clouding it over with "issues" as ridiculous as this only distracts from his
real flaws, and frankly plays into his hand in a "Well, if
that's the worst thing they can say about him!" way.
BTW, love this quote (emphasis mine) from the McCain campaign regarding the "pilfering intern:"
The intern has been dealt with,” said Tucker Bounds, a campaign spokesman, who declined to provide details. "Nonetheless," Mr. Bounds said, “we took away his zero pay.”
Well,
that'll show him!

NYT article.)
