Firefox 3 Release & Stardock Site Compatibility
Jul 30, 2008 12:59

Firefox 3.0 goes final and is scheduled for release on Tuesday, June 17th.

There are currently known incompatibilities between Firefox 3 and many of our sites and forums. For the most part, the sites function properly, but have formatting issues. A specific example are the login & password fields to log into these forums. In Firefox 3, instead of both being on the same line, they are stacked vertically.

We will be addressing these visual issues in time. Please do NOT post threads on the forums pointing out Firefox 3 site issues. They will be deleted. We are aware of the problems and will work as quickly as we can to resolve them.

Until posted otherwise, the only version of Firefox our sites support at the moment is Firefox 2.

33 cents to save the planet

plastic bad

Plastic bags are horrible things.  They hurt sealife.  They are a petroleum product.  They are unneccessary.  No, I don't think you should switch to paper bags but to reusable cloth bags.  Ireland passed a law that charged customers 33 cents per plastic bag at checkout.  The result was that within weeks plastic bag usage dropped 94%.

We lived without them before.  We need to stop being such a wasteful, throwaway society and look at the big picture.  Unfortunately, people don't seem to make the decision to do the right thing until forced whether by an outright ban or a small fee.  If that's what it takes to motivate people, then I say we should do it.  Who loses?  Only the Chinese bag manufacturers, maybe they can switch to making re-usable cloth bags.

One six-inch-diameter tree (the size of most pulpwood commonly used to produce paper) yields about 200 paper sacks at your supermarket. If you choose paper, you can calculate how many pulpwood-size trees your paper "habit" uses each year: Multiply the average number of bags you come home with each week by 52 and then divide the answer by 200.

Actually, both are true.

Actually, both are true.

Yay, we both get to be right. That doesn't happen very often :~D
