Another reason why people like you will never get anywhere with your BS. You bitch about the president not doing anything to change things and here you are driving a gas wasting 1998 and 2002 car. A few lightbulbs and some insulation and he thinks he's king of conservation. What a hypocrite. Most new house and buildings are designed to be more efficient, most appliances are more efficient today than they were 2 years ago. Even computers use less power now, though people put more stuff in the that pretty much brings it back up, but anyways.

I just bought a 2007 4 cylinder car that gets 25 to 28 MPG. I maintain my A/c unit at 77 during the day. we use very little water. I make sure to keep any and all necessary lights and electrical equipment off. I have not changed any lightbulbs cause for the moment they are expensive and I am renting so I will end up taking those lights with me and that seems alike a hassle. Is there any more you think I should do? Or should I go and buy an expensive hybrid to satisfy your hypocrisy?

My experience with the cheaper compact flourescents is that they aren't worth it. What I would recommend for the "cheapskate" is, buy a couple of GOOD quality compact flourescents on sale (WalMart's a pretty good source for them, provided you don't buy the cheapest ones there) and replace the bulbs in your house as they burn out. You'll be amazed at the energy savings.

Compact flourescents don't burn out; they fade away, and the cheaper ones fade away faster than the pricier ones, so you're not getting much value out of the cheaper bulbs. Buy the ones rated for 5 or 7 years, though, and you'll soon find yourself struggling to remember the last time you had to change a lightbulb.

The choice to spend is not the fault of Bush. The issue is that the economy is generating jobs that pay far less then in the past and wage growth is not keeping up with inflation. That helps drive people into more debt which can adversely impact the economy. Gas and home heating oil prices is a good example. These are things that a person must buy and is taking more and more of their current income. That means they turn to their credit cards to help make up the difference. Bush and the GOP have done NOTHING to deal with the energy issues and gas prices have doubled since Bush took over and home heating oil is almost 3 times higher then in 2000. This is an example of a problem that Bush inherited that his policies did not solve but made WORSE!

I have to say, I will be sad to see Bush go. Once he does, Col will have no more BS to write except maybe some flashback articles. I kinda enjoy watching him work his broken record routine, how he manages to blame a single man for every bump in the road this country goes thru, how he ignores the good stuff and only focuses on the bad things. Has anyone noticed Col has not posted a single Iraq article for about 2 weeks? That he has now been focusing on the economy? Kinda like that article Island Dog wrote.
