One of the talking points from the left is how America, it's allies, and "the world" is less safe because of Bush and Iraq.  Well this interesting story shows that just about anything will make you "less safe", including writing a book.

"Al-Qaida's No. 2 issued a new audiotape on Tuesday threatening to retaliate against Britain for honoring the novelist Salman Rushdie, a U.S.-based monitoring group said."

Terrorists use propganda to make excuses for their attacks, and if there was no situation in Iraq, they would use another excuse to justify their attacks.  We need to stop worrying about who we "offend" and who we "make mad", because these poeple are out to kill us regardless of Iraq, Afghanistan, or knighthood.

I agree.  Unfortunately, most of the Ostriches do not.

I wish I knew why is it that people keep saying it's all our fault when this group of people kill simply because of a book, a cartoon, a quote or simply for being American. This is like blaming parents because their kid got hit by a drunk driver. I tire of this, I tire of trying to be the good guy and always getting blamed for the woe's of the rest of the world. I say if we gonna be the bad guys even when we are the good guys then we may as well end our problems swiftly by being a bit less good. I would rather be seen as bad while taking care of the problem in a 1-2-3 as oppose to been seen as bad while trying to be good and taking half a century to accomplish little if anything.

I say it's time, not to throw the rule book out the window, but to start bending the rules a little. Might as well be punished for doing something than being seen as wrong.

They way things work in this country you are better off being a criminal. If you commit a crime the law sees you as innocent till proven guilty and if there is no evidence against you or evidence is mishandled or you have enough money, you are free to go. If you are innocent, no one ever believes you. If you are an illegal immigrant, you have rights. If you are a multiple offending drunk driver, you will get you license back over and over. But if you get pulled over for no reason, chances are you will go to jail. What a great system we have he, don't we.

Good question.  Much of it comes from the "blame America" attitude that is most common on the left in this country.  We could leave Iraq right now, we could leave the Middle East right now, and it will not change their desire to kill.

Even worse, if they manage to get a bill passed demanding our troops to withdraw by, say, the end of August and they do, once all hell breaks loose over there they will blame Bush for leaving the country in chaos when they left.

Exactly.

The whole point of this was to show the excuses and propaganda these people put out, and the leftists just seem to actually fall for it.
