The new material is150 Dead and 250 injured on a single day in Iraq. This would not have happened if Bush had not invaded Iraq!

And I ask again....what do you care?  If it were up to you we would leave right now and thousands of Iraqis would be slaughtered.  You should stop pretending that you care so much about the Iraqi people.

Yes we will see what comes out of investigations that Congress will begin after the Democrats take over.

Since democrats have power now are you going to hold them to the same "standards" as you have with republicans?  Will the democrats explain to us why they thought Saddam was a threat and had WMD's.  I think we should call for an investigation of that.

 

 

Marine Corps ‘can’t maintain [a] surge’ in troop levels.At a press breakfast yesterday, Marine commandant Gen. James Conway said that any decision to increase the number of Marines in Iraq - currently around 23,000 - would have “long-term repercussions.” “The payback is you can’t maintain that surge,” Conway said. “‘And it’s probably going to have an adverse impact’ on the ability to provide ready troops in the future.”

As I have said my concern is for the American Military that die every day. It is clear we can not stop this Civil War and the majority of the Iraqi People have said they support the attacks on our troops. What I am showing by the Iraqi deaths is that this is a NO WIN situation and our continued presence will only mean more Americans will die or be injured. My concern is NOT for the Iraqis but for our troops. What do you care about?

This is a situation where every day the war gets worse. We have been in Iraq LONGER then WWII. Why continue to sustain death and injuries when the outcome gets worse EVERY day. To take casualties IF we are making progress is one thing. To just put our troops in the middle of a civil war that they can not control is not showing regard for the lives of our military. Sending troops for three and four tours in that HELL Hole does now show regard for our brave military. What we are asking them to do is pulling the trigger on the revolver in a game of Russian Roulette by sending them back time after time to a war they can not win because we do not have anything like the force levels needed to control what we allowed to get out of control when we removed Saddam and did not supply the troops levels needed to PREVENT this Civil War!

Bush made two major errors—

Sending our military into Iraq – he was warned by Powell and others this could become a no win situation!!!.

Sending them with too few troops to control Iraq after Saddam Fell – He was told by the senior military what was needed to CONTROL Iraq and ignored that advice (500,000). It was all spelled out in the attack plan for Iraq, OP Plan 1003. I guess he must have used all that knowledge he gained from when he did not attend Drills in the National Guard.

LONDON - Britain said Monday it expects to withdraw thousands of its 7,000 military personnel from Iraq by the end of next year, while Poland and Italy announced the impending withdrawal of their remaining troops.

Looks like George will be all alone in Iraq.

ppl are so ready to accept defeat in a war because of the "Peace at all Cost" idea....

It is looked upon that if we pull out, there will all of a sudden be peace. And the Muslim Extremists will love us and shower flowers at our feet....

The sad part, the exact opposite will happen, as we, America, will be looked upon as weak, which will embolden the terrorists even more. Just like they look at Black Hawk Down in that way, just like they took our response to all the other attacks that have happened in the past 2 decades.

What ppl do not seem to understand, or refuse to understand....to bring these extremists to their knees, we need to use force....brute force....devastating force. But how can America do that when ppl like Col are decrying when civilians die every day.

Me personally, I refuse to have the war run via 10 minute increments. Col says that we have been there longer than we were in WW2. But, I ask, have we lost as many men as we did in WW2? And, technically, we are still there in Europe, how many years AFTER WW2?

We are fighting the war in Iraq in the wrong way. I believe total and brute force is required, instead of trying to be so damned politically correct so we don't offend anyone. If we are in war....then we BRING IT....put an end to the war, by eliminating those that oppose us. And then, if ppl like Col want to complain that we are fighting the war and hurting ppl (like I am sure he would, just to jab at Bush), let them spit on the soldiers returning and show their true colors (like I am sure they would, because then all the soldiers would be "war criminals"....hey, maybe Col and the rest could use that as a political springboard to run for President in 20 years or so).

It is never answered what will happen if we picked up and pulled out. That is sorta, glossed over....pushed to the back of the closet. If we pulled out, Iraq WOULD spiral into civil war....and many many more Iraqis would die. Dennis Miller (not sure if he was being serious or not) said, that if we form an exit strategy and pull out now, we might as well start working on another entrance strategy, because we will be RIGHT BACK THERE AGAIN dealing with the same problem.

Why not fix the problem right now? Why not take care of the monster right now, instead of pushing the monster back into the closet? I think Muslim Extremist have had enough of running wild in the World...time to put it to an end with a bullet to the head. Call it what you want...harsh, sadistic, cruel....I call it mercy killing for the sake of the "good" Muslims that Cacto and the rest defend.....cut off the part of the body that festers, to save the part that appears to be working ok....

The article says the three countries intend to remove their troops from Iraq. That is what George calls CUT and RUN!

I am not happy with us going into Iraq nor the failure that we face. However, I see NO real chance for the situation to improve and very REAL chance for it getting worse. Add the constant loss of American lives and the adverse impact on our military from the prolonged deployment-- IT IS TIME TO GET OUT and allow the Iraqis to defend their country.

The time for brute force was when Saddam fell to prevent the sectarian and foreign elements from organizing into what we see today. At this point to control the violence in Iraq would require massive troop increases WE DO NOT HAVE. In addition, some of our forces have been sent 3 and now 4 times to Iraq. The new Commandant of the Marine Corps has said increased deployment of the Marines is not possible without causing major damage to the Corps. The Guard and Reserve is in the same situation and most of the Active Army is not much better off. The Army C of S refused to sign off on the 2007 budget because he said there is not sufficient funding to operate the Army in 2007 with the budget Bush and the Congress is considering. Most of the equipment for the ground components and the Guard and Reserve must be replaced and there has not been funding approved for this massive additional expenditure. That equipment will have to be replaced even if we ended our occupation in Iraq NOW!

NOITHING about the Iraq War has been a success. EVERY claim by Bush and Cheney before we invaded Iraq has proven to totally wrong. In war things do not always go as planned. However, when EVERYTHING goes WRONG, the LEADERSHIP is the cause. If the war in Europe had gone the way Iraq has gone, do you believe FDR and IKE would have remained in power? HELL NO!!!

ALL who voted for GWB SCREWED UP BIG TIME! Americans that supported Bush can not admit the made a mistake. This is the same character FLAW that Bush and Cheney have shown.
